What exactly is an "aha moment"?

Good morning.

Today, I thought I'd write a little about "inspiration."

I'm sure all knitters have leftover yarn.

I certainly have a lot.

You probably put them all together,

in a bag or a case. When you see two yarns accidentally next to each other,

do you ever feel a spark?

An intuitive feeling for a combination you wouldn't usually consider.

The important thing here is

to "not think."

If you start thinking, it becomes boring.

If you think too much about things like "the tones of these colors don't match,"

"it's too outlandish,"

or "it doesn't suit me,"

you'll always end up choosing safe colors,

just like you always do.

*Choosing your favorite colors, even if they are always similar, is not a bad thing. In fact, items that get heavy use are very valuable. However, since this is about "inspiration," we will focus on new discoveries.

Of course, even if they're not leftover yarn,

take out the yarns you have stored in skeins

and shuffle them around.

That's when "inspiration" strikes.

The feeling might be different for each person,

A sudden spark!

It just clicked.

It's exciting.

It's hard to explain,

but you'll understand it instinctively (or you'll learn to).

And

conversely, if you don't feel that spark,

if it doesn't excite you,

it won't click.

,,,,,

There's a sense of discomfort.

It feels vague

or rough.

You thought it clicked,

but something feels off.

Then, let it go.

Don't force yourself to like it.

There's no right or wrong in inspiration,

and it's fine if you get tired of it later

or come to dislike it.

Otherwise,

you'll start to overthink things again.

"I have no sense of style,"

some people say, but

that's not true.

You see someone else's work and think it's wonderful, don't you?

That means your sensor for what is wonderful was activated.

Instead of thinking, "I can't do that,"

try to think about what exactly you found wonderful

(it's okay to think here).

It could be the color distribution,

the combination,

the texture,

or the beauty of the finish.

If you look very closely,

the photograph itself might be beautiful (often the case),

or you might find the interior or lifestyle behind it

"cute" or "stylish."

If you don't know why,

clip and save those things,

and you might find something in common.

That's how you hone your intuition.

To say "hone" might be an exaggeration,

but you train yourself to rely on your intuition.

If you read books on that subject,

they all say that

the subconscious mind holds an immeasurable

amount of vast information.

So,

I often think,

"What should I do for the next Sock Club?"

When I think that,

I simply wish for an inspiring color

that is unique and captivating

(I say it upwards, towards the heavens, so to speak).

Then, I leave it alone.

One day, it suddenly comes to me.

It descends.

I don't know why.

Maybe it would have come down even if I hadn't asked above,

but I think my brain goes searching for the answer somewhere.

Although I am originally an intuitive type,

as an adult,

it's difficult to live solely by instinct.

Because I'm not an idiot,

I act based on calculations of gain and loss,

I read the room and do things I don't want to do,

I sometimes overthink to avoid trouble,

and I can't always do things that feel good.

That's precisely why I consciously value intuition.

Why?

Because by doing so, I listen to my own voice

and can take care of myself.

This is not selfishness.

If someone feels comfortable living for others,

they are valuing that aspect of themselves (prioritizing others),

and as a result, they are taking care of themselves.

If you judge solely by common sense and social norms,

and live constantly thinking "I should,"

you will feel suffocated and constrained.

I believe this leads to ill health.

The opposite is also true.

If you maintain a relaxed, calm, and unfatigued state

(← this is important),

your intuition becomes sharper.

Maintain a soft heart and body.

This has become long.

Back to the yarn.

I love Inotani's socks.

They are fun to knit.

I cherish leftover yarn,

and even yarns I usually dislike can do a good job.

When choosing colors,

I don't aim too much (don't overthink),

I choose based on my senses.

Then it's exciting and fun.

Even if something strange turns out, that's also fun.

I've said "don't think" many times,

but in the end, I am thinking, somewhere.

That's why it doesn't turn out extremely funky,

I incorporate my favorite essences,

and something just right is created.

Well then,

With all that,

I wake up to a bookshelf filled with my favorite books

next to my bed,

and yarn neatly arranged there.

My bedroom.

Every day, I'm overwhelmed by inspiration.

I get too excited and it's exhausting, lol.

Putting the cart before the horse.

I will update the shop soon.

May it be a help

to all of your inspirations.
